the 3rd

Gentry has a reputation. Yes at the ripe old age of 2, she can hold her own. Gentry is known in nursery and among friends as a bit of a bully. I have laughed and worried about this behavior. Then last night while playing in the back yard I caught these moments......is it any wonder why Gentry is the way she is? It is hard to be the third! You keep it up Gen, protect yourself well. I guess I should be glad you made it this far! (yes, that is Casey's hand holding her little head down, even the Dad teases her.)

perfect

We had canned lots of fruit this year so a fresh peach isn't that uncommon.  However this peach is different, and exciting because it the the first, what I would call Perfect peach from our very own tree.  Perfectly ripe, Perfectly sweet.  One day we will have so many we can share, but today I am happy to be able to eat one from our very own, very young tree!

silly bands

Who thought of these? Hayli's latest obsession...silly bands. She spends her own money on these regularly. When I asked her where the word ones were she let me know that she can only wear 1/2 at a time or they are itchy. So that is only half. I guess wearing all of them would be, overkill. :)

smile

Kate brought this home as a self portrait from preschool.  When I asked about the yellow hair, she shrugged and said."My hair is blondish, brownish but mostly on the top."  Even my preschooler knows about highlights!  I know, only I would find that funny. But I have to say...it made me smile.

how do i love you.....

Let me count the bottles....51 bottles of nectarines and 19 bottles of peaches and that is because I ran out of bottles, not peaches. Funny how you don't appreciate what your Mom might have done for you till you have to do it for the ones you love. How many times did I go get a bottle of peaches growing up with out a thought of how it got there? Probably just frustrated I had to go clear down to the cellar to get it. (Yes, we had a cellar growing up. But that is a different story, good old 528. ) Today I am thankful my Mom had pruned fingers, aching thumbs, a tired back and throbbing feet, for me. A lot of years too late but.....
Thanks Mom.

finally!

Lets just say our garden this year has not kept up with expectations...ahhhh.  Why does it feel like I am never getting any better at this. Each year I am so excited to till the cold dirt and nurture my, all be it "little", garden.  And it seems each year we have a new conflict.  That being said I am happy that we are finally starting to harvest from our 9, yes, 9 tomato plants!  We must have planted a late harvesting brand.  Our new success this year is our green peppers.  They have be so good this year.
So here's to a hope for harvest and a better garden plan next year.

canyon

The air was crisp, the leaves are changing. Autumn might really come! A last minute decision took us to the canyon tonight. We were not really dressed right, couldn't seem to find the right picnic area, so we ended up driving to the trail head for Mt. Timpanogos. Walking the trails in flip flops looking for the bears, Casey kept promising would arrive. We strolled till Gentry's teeth were chattering, Hayli and Kate had black feet. Somehow I hope these are the nights the girls remember. I do love those mountain views, and those little rugrats too. ( Is it just me or does the lack of diaper make Genny look older? Only big girls now!)

not fair

We are in full blown tantrum season here. I know you think I am talking about the 2 year old.....but alas my Kate is a maniac lately. If the movie she wants is not chosen.....screaming "your rude!" She didn't get to the toy quicker than someone else.....screaming it's "not fair!" And I am not talking about crying, I am talking about you just cut off my finger screaming. It has become embarrassing. And yet she hasn't figured out the rules are the same everyday, all day long.......no matter how you scream.

So if you "hear" us when you are outside and we are inside. Just hope for us all this is a phase. And yes, you can still throw the tantrum of all tantrums with princess shoes on. Can you see her peeking out to see if I am still watching? Such a actress.

Want to trade?
If today is a sign of how "easy" it is going to be......lets just say I think I am in for a LONG weekend!
Wish us luck.

special day

SO.....I pick up Kate at 11:30 and she had a huge smile on her face. I asked about her day her first response was "it wasn't very long". But then she asked is a very serious face if "today was a special day?" I said " well I guess so, first days are always special." Then Kate smiled and asked if we could go to Blue Lemon. My kids know how to work me. But this newest fascination with Blue Lemon has had me puzzled. She has been before but I don't think she remembers. She saw it one day as we drove by and has been dying to get inside. I couldn't resist, we had a slow day so Genny, Kate and I lunched at the Blue Lemon today. Kate was in heaven, she "knew they would have lemonade"! However they also have a TV that displays all the yummy desserts that they made. We had to get one after her cheese sandwich. She wanted the lemon dessert in a cup, she thought it looked like ice cream, after several minutes trying to explain what it really was, she was not deterred. So lemon cream and cake in a cup for Kate, Genny easily chose carrot cake or maybe I forgot to ask her and just bought carrot cake. :) Anyhow to maybe get to the point, lemon stuff in a cup looks pretty but is a little sour.......who knew? Why don't my kids believe me?
And so... she ate my cake.
I do love that stubborn little girl I hope one day she will realize I really am trying to help her make good choices.
If I know anything, I do know my desserts!!

preschool

Kate has tried to be patient but she was so excited for school to start today! She went to bed smiling when I told her the big day would be today. Kate loves Ginny and bounded out of the car this morning hollering at her neighborhood friends to wait for her. Sometimes as I see mothers standing there with their hesitant kids I am jealous of the "love" they are receiving, but I am so glad for Kate's confidence.
Good luck baby girl, whoops I mean "big" girl, can't wait to hear your stories!!

story telling festival

Hayli and I were able to go to the Story Telling Festival with friends yesterday. Hayli had a fantastic time. #1 She got out of school, #2 she spent the day roaming the park with Kristen and Mathew. They listened to story tellers, watched puppet shows, made pottery bowls, watched jugglers and ate hot cinnamon rolls and finished the day with ice cream! Thanks to Jenn for letting me volunteer at the ticket booth so my "big" girl could have a fun day!

Kate loved sitting in this window,

All three is SO hard. That's why I called a professional. Kate might be done. But Genny makes me smile!

This one is my life!
I love them Tracie! They represent my girls and their personalities perfectly!

homework

A few pretzels, Taylor Swift and a friend, makes homework doable!
